As mentioned earlier, my word of the year is “Heart.” My friend Mary Fisher and I created a Bible study called “God’s Heart, My Heart.” Connected in Scripture are many adjectives and concepts for heart including: transformed, examined, humble, teachable, wise, compassionate, thankful, rejoicing, worshiping, peaceful, contented, forgiving, pure, remembering, encouraging, trusting, generous, waiting.
Since the issues of life flow from our hearts – our will, our emotions,
our minds – it is crucial to be sure that our hearts connect with and reflect God’s heart.
This process is a daily, even moment by moment, challenge – a battle really. A spiritual war continues on this battlefield.
But what a joy and strength to know God’s true Word! The Psalmist writes:
“Direct me, Yahweh, throughout my journey so I can experience Your plans for my life. Reveal the life-paths that are pleasing to You.
Escort me into Your truth; take me by the hand and teach me. For You are the God of my salvation; I have wrapped my heart into Yours all day long.”
