March 12, 2023: Perspective Blog

Perspective Blog for March 12, 2023

Someone once joked that he was going to write a book called: “Humility: How I Attained It.”

We laugh, but do we really understand what it means to have a humble heart?

And we need one if we are going to be teachable and wise.

    Andrew Murray said this:

“Humility is perfect quietness of heart. It is to never be irritated, nor sore, nor disappointed. It is to expect nothing, to wonder at nothing that is done to me.

It is to be at rest when nobody praises me, and when I am blamed and despised.”

This flies in the face of our “me first” cultural mindset. And anxiety is rampant!

Jesus said: “Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to Me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with Mine. Learn My ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in Me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.”

Next week: more thoughts about what humility is and is not. Oops! Does that mean I have it? (Answer: No!)
