Life is, among other details, a series of moments, words, acts of loving service. Big events make big marks on our memories, but little ones often make lasting impressions.

Jesus assured his listeners that they could serve Him and receive commendation in the future by little acts of service to others:

  • Feeding the hungry

  • Clothing the naked

  • Offering a drink to the thirsty

  • Extending welcome to a stranger

  • Going to the sick

  • Visiting those in prison                  (Matthew 25:34-40)

And the prophet Isaiah spoke eloquently of meeting the needs of others by pursuing justice, sharing bread, bringing the homeless poor into our houses, covering the naked.

But guess what? Here is what God promises to those who serve people:

  • Salvation coming like the dawn

  • Wounds quickly healed

  • Leading by godliness

  • Protection by God’s glory

  • Thirst quenched by God

  • Strength restored

  • Continuous guidance from God                        (Isaiah 58:6-12)
