I saw a photo of a senior citizen still enjoying a game of baseball.

                                                      More Than a Game

Take away his wrinkles,

The fringe of gray hair

Under the faded baseball cap.

Remove the sorrows lived,

And he is just a boy again,

Or still is.

His eyes seem to be following the ball,

But see instead

A thousand flying

Leather-bound orbs

Of other summer afternoons.

Joy flies through the air,

With camaraderie warmed by the sun.

Memories hum over home plate.
