Father's Day
One of heaven's great joys will be seeing loved ones again. Since my father died when I was not quite 6 years old, he and I will have alot of catching up to do!
My widowed mother raised the four of us siblings on her own with dignity and humour. But I have always had a fascination with watching fathers and their children interact.
Today on this Father's Day, I want to pay tribute to the many mentors and "fathers" who have guided me over the years, in the absence of my earthly father.
To Ray, one of my early spiritual mentors, for his kindness and godly wisdom.
To Tom, a friend for many decades, just said to me on the phone the other day: "Let's determine to be faithful to God during these days!"
To Dave, my husband of 40 plus years, for demonstrating and explaining his wealth of practical knowledge in many areas.
To Andre, for his seven years of listening to me, and guiding me in spiritual direction practices.
To Uncle Ernie, one of my dad's brother's, for giving me a job while I was in high school, and walking me down the aisle at my wedding.
Whether or not you have a good and present earthly father today, don't forget to thank all the other "father mentors" who have helped you along the way.
