You may have some questions for God when you get to heaven. I know I do!
But in the book of Genesis, God has a few of His own questions for people.
To Adam in the garden: “Where are you?”
To Hagar in the wilderness: “Where are you coming from and where are you going?”
As if God did not know the answers already! It seems to me that He wanted to hear people speak for themselves.
If we let God ask us questions, and listen quietly- perhaps with pen in hand- He will guide our perspective and choices in the days to come.
Where have you come from? (your past)
Where are you? (your present)
Where are you going? (your future)
Responding to these questions can help us along the road to emotional and spiritual maturity. In the study of literature, teachers always point to the context of actions and words. The above three questions from God can make us see our own life-contexts.
I highly recommend the book, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Peter Scazzero. He says “It is impossible to be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature.”
Yes, good questions can point us to understanding and growth.
