November 3, 2024
In my mind, November is Heroes Month, because it includes honoring our veterans. More on that next week.
But there are other kinds of heroes. The recent Olympics showed many of them. Competitors should be lauded for their years of hard work and sometimes heartbreak.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone topped those realities by giving open credit to God for His help in winning another gold medal in the hurdles.
In a Guidepost magazine article prior to the games, she listed five verses from God’s Word that helped her learn key lessons.
Proverbs 29:25 “The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.”
Proverbs 24:14 “Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off.”
Proverbs 15:22 “Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisors they succeed.”
Proverbs 16:3 “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”
Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”
For each of us, life is a race and these truths can help us too.
