Last week, the topic was feet. This week, another body part: eyes.
The eyes are truly one of God’s most intricate and useful gifts.
I love the story told by John about Jesus healing the man who was blind from birth. Jesus could have just said “Be healed.” Instead, He spat on the ground, made a paste with the dirt, applied it to the man’s eyes and said,”Go and wash your eyes in the pool of Siloam.”
The man did so, and regained his sight.
Physical blindness is serious but having clear spiritual eyesight – understanding God and His truth - is crucial. When Saul was persecuting Christians, God made him blind on the road to Damascus. Days later, God sent Ananias to pray for him, and he regained his sight, going on to grow in faith and proclaim the Gospel as the beloved Apostle Paul.
For years, the saying “What Would Jesus Do?” has been written in various forms. But recently, I heard the question: “What Would Jesus See?”
After thanking God for our physical eyesight each day, it would be a good idea to ask Jesus what He sees in our situations and relationships.
If we see what He sees, we can better do what He would do!
