November 26, 2023: Perspective Blog

November 26, 2023

James Clear, author of “Atomic Habits” lists some social skills that he considers to be “superpowers.”  (For Christians, of course, God is in us and is the true superpower of the world. However, I think He values the abilities listed below.)

  • The ability to deliver bad news in a good way

  • The ability to de-escalate a tense situation into a calm one

  • The ability to transform a lose/win situation into a win/win one

And from me:

  • The ability to see humor in life events

  • The ability to laugh at yourself

  • The ability to find that there are more than two sides to every story

  • The ability to make wise decisions/choices

In reference to this last one, here is a simple way to help with decisions:

  • What do you need to do?

  • What are you able to do?

  • What do you just want to do?

Recently, I knew someone who needed to get some extra work to pay her expenses, and was able to do so. But she really wanted to travel. If she traveled, she would not be available and energetic enough to do the extra work. She made the wise choice: work now; travel later.

Review your day or your week from the above perspectives!
