Years ago, I walked on a famous suspension bridge. It is well constructed and allows 1.2 million people to cross it safely each year. Did I still feel some fleeting fear? Yes! Were my tiny trusting steps rewarded with safety over the river? Yes!
Trust. Faith. We don’t need much - just to place it wisely.
Jesus said that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, we could do the impossible, like move a mountain.
When I was a teenager, I put my trust in Jesus and became His follower. More than 50 years have passed since then, and He is still worthy of my trust. He is the firm bridge from my sin and hopelessness to the security of His forgiveness and forever friendship with God.
This forever-life and peace began when I prayed with mustard seed- sized faith and in Jesus - Who loved me enough to die for me.
Jesus prayed: “And this is eternal life that people know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ the One You sent.”
To trust anyone else with my spiritual well-being and forever-connection with a loving God would be like leaning on a spider web.
You may have noticed in the past week how often you put your trust and faith in people you have not met or do not know. (Such as the staff of your local water treatment plant, the maker of the car you drive, the producers of the food you eat).
This week trust the One Who responds to your mustard seed- size faith.
