Perspective: How we view life is how we do life

What are some signs of emotional health? My observation is that one of them is the ability to laugh at ourselves. My mother was certainly able to do that, and she was one of the most emotionally healthy people I have ever known.

It takes knowing that we are accepted and loved just as we are that gives us the freedom to laugh at our own foibles and faults and mistakes. (Of course, this does not mean our sins!)

If only teenagers, and the rest of us who sometimes worry what others think of us, understood this quote:

If we laugh at ourselves, then we take away the power of other people to  make fun of us. (a paraphrase of a statement by Benjamin Franklin)

May also increase our life spans, because W.E. Nesom said: “Whoever laughs, lasts.”
