My favorite gift for a baby is always, always a book. Parents usually have lots of baby clothes and blankets, but often I am the first one to start their library of children’s books. So here are some of my choices:

  • Something From Nothing by Phoebe Gilman (a charming Jewish folktale about a little boy and his grandfather. Delightful artwork too!)

  • The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones (Have read this one cover to cover myself. A well told story that drew my heart closer to Jesus. Exceptional art by Jago.)

  • And recently, I am including for new parents, a necessary book on keeping their children safe. Protecting the Gift: Keeping Children and Teenagers Safe, and Parents Sane by Gavin de Becker (a world expert on this topic, with years of experience advising parents on this most important of tasks)

It really does take a village to raise a child…
